I've heard that I can't recycle glass using the new boxes? If this is true why not ?

What should I do with my old electrical equipment- computers, record players, radios, batteries etc?

Funky Chicken: Glass isn't part of the new scheme but the council will look at this in the future. There aren't viable (logistical or cost) means to collect glass from the kerbside just yet. The bring banks will still be available though.

Christopher: The recycled materials go to a number of processors based in the South East where they are processed and sold onto the market.

The two household waste recycling centres can take electrical waste.
